Magpies A Grade Teams Lead The Way In Juniors
The Miranda Magpies have started season 2018 very strong and after 6 rounds we're 1/3rd of the way through the season, we thought we'd have a look at how our teams are progressing....
Our 12A's kick us off, undefeated this year with 5 wins and a draw. They were strong in 11's last year but they've really kicked the season off strong and are a massive chance to win the title. The big rivals in this one are Bosco (who are also 5-1-0) and they take each other on at 8:30am this Saturday at Seymour Shaw 2. It will be an absolute cracker! Our 12C's are in 4th place and looking strong for a finals spot with just 1 loss this season. The 12D's are in first place in a very tight competition with just 7 points separating 1st and last. Finally our 12E's are in 4th spot and playing very strong football, illustrated by their massive 3-1 win over 1st place Crusaders last weekend, handing them their first loss for the season.
Our 12A's from last season missed the finals by a single win and they've been leading the competition until last weekends 1-0 loss to Seagulls. They've slipped to third but they are 6 points clear of 4th and going strong. Our 13C's have had a tough start to the season, still winless but so close to getting several wins this year. Keep it up boys!
We've had some mixed results in Under 14's, with our last placed 13A's choosing to stay up and take on A Grade again, they are 7th with 2 draws and unlucky not to be higher. We know this team deserves better and that Magpies spirit will get them the goals they need. Our 14C's are 5th, just 2 points from a finals spot. They finished 5th last year, we know they'll fight for that finals spot. Finally our Premiership winning 13E's have been promoted to 14D's and sit in 2nd spot. They had a massive 3-2 win over Sylvania last week and take on top spot Cronulla RSL this weekend in another blockbuster at Seymour Shaw 2 at 9:30am.
Our 15A's were knocked out from 4th spot in the finals last year but they've exploded into 2018, leading the competition undefeated after 6 rounds. They downed other front runners Caringbah and Lilli Pilli 1 already and at +12 goal difference are miles ahead of anyone else. Our Premiership winning 15C2's have taken on B Grade well, winning 2, drawing 1 and losing 3 to sit 7th and just 1 point from the Top 4. They have a massive game against lowly Lilli Pilli this weekend, with a much needed win up for grabs.
Our 18B's have competed well despite sitting in last place with 2 wins and 4 losses. It's a close competition, Miranda are just 4 points from 3rd spot and every win is vital. Finally our 18E's have had a tough year, managing a draw from 6 matches. They'll be fighting for the 3 points against last spot Menai this weekend, a win that could see them shoot up multiple spots.
The Womens 12B's have gone undefeated this season with 5 wins and a draw. Finishing 2nd last year in the 11's, they've moved into 12's with a passion to win. They thumped top spot St Patricks 3-0 a few weeks ago and have a massive game away against Loftus this weekend to keep hold of top spot.
The Womens 14B's have had some solid wins after missing the W12B's finals last year. they are 2-4 and are just 5 points from 4th. They have a massive game against Cronulla RSL (5th) this weekend, a game they must win to keep in touch. You can see this game at 11:50am at Seymour Shaw 2.
Finally our W16B's have started well, with 2 wins and 4 losses to be 7th but just 4 points from 4th place. They had a big win over Gymea last weekend and take on 6th placed Como this weekend in another massive game for the girls. You can see this one at 2:20pm at Seymour Shaw 2.
Well done to all our Junior teams, it's been an impressive start to the season and we wish you luck for the next part of season 2018!!
