REFEREE PROGRAM

Miranda Magpies MiniRoo Refereeing Program initiates and offers the involvement of Miranda Magpies players 12 years and over in officiating our Under 6's to Under 11's home matches on a Saturday at Seymour Shaw Park. We provide a refereeing pathway which allows another opportunity for kids to be involved in the game and grow their leadership skills and confidence.

As a Referee:

  • You are able to engage with training and information sessions run by the

club prior to the season to learn the rules.

  • You are given your own uniform and equipment.

  • You are paid for the games you referee and receive a free soft drink and

sausage sizzle on days you referee.

  • You are provided with a pathway and opportunity to progress to Black and

White refereeing with the Sutherland Shire Football Referees Association.

Refereeing is a rewarding experience, teaching children confidence and

leadership skills in a supportive environment, while enjoying the game they

love, in a complete different way.

How do I become a Referee?

To get involved in our Refereeing Program, please carefully read our Program Policy below to find out whether you are eligible, and then proceed with an Expression of Interest form through the link provided.

Program Policy:

Our Referee's Program is extremely popular with an average of 28 referee's accepted per season, operating on a first in best dressed basis and implementing a waiting list for those interested in joining the program.

With this in mind, the number of places available each season varies depending on how many referees return. Being on the waiting list does not guarantee there will be a place for you the following season.

To be eligible you must;

  • Be at least 12 years old

  • Currently play for the Miranda Magpies or be a Miranda Magpies junior who has progressed to a higher level of football.

Those who are no longer playing football can continue to be a referee, however those playing at another SSFA club or outside our local association, should contact their new club about their refereeing program. If the above circumstances change once you are already accepted into the program, you will no longer be considered eligible to continue refereeing.

Once you have completed an Expression of Interest, our MiniRoo Referee's Coordinator will place you on the waiting list and will be in touch early in the New Year asking you to re-express your interest for the upcoming season. It is your responsibility to read and respond to emails and a lack of a timely response can impact your position on our wait list.

If you are eligible and would like to join our Refereeing Program please complete the Expression of interest form below:
