The Miranda Magpies have completed a sensational weekend of Grand Final Football, winning 5 of 6 Grand Finals contested.
The weekend began in style with the Minor Premier 13E's winning 1-0 at Preston Park against Como-Jannali, the parents really enjoying the moment and so proud of their boys for a fantastic victory and season.
Congratulations to the 13E's and good luck with your promotion next season.
The 15C1's were next taking on rivals Bosco at Kareela, with the Magpies snatching the Minor Premiership in the last round and victorious 4-1 in an exciting Grand Final encounter. Coach Brett was very proud of the boys and did they know how to celebrate!!!
On Sunday, our W18B's were gallant in defeat, making their 5th Grand Final in 6 seasons is a massive achievement. The 1-0 loss to Como-Jannali was tough to take but these girls are a special bunch and we know they'll be back bigger and better next season.
The All Age 14's score a 2-0 Grand Final Victory over Minor Premiers Engadine, the boys celebrating well into the night at the clubhouse. The men demonstrated their passion for success and despite a Semi-Final draw to Engadine, held their focus and went on to claim victory.
From there it was the Kareela double header with the Senior Womens A1's scoring a 2-0 victory of St Patricks. The Minor Premiers were held 0-0 in the first half but scored two cracking goals to seal the victory and the remarkable, undefeated season.
Our 35C's played Lilli Pilli up the hill at Kareela and after a delayed first half, with the Lilli Pilli keeper dislocating his shoulder, the Minor Premier 35C's went on to complete the 2-0 victory with a goal in each half.
"It was the best Grand Final day result for many seasons" said Club President Brad Bates at the celebrations after the final games. The club and it's committee are very proud of the efforts of all involved. Coaches, Managers, Trainers and players, you've done us proud.
How good will 2018 be!!!!!!!
