17A's Finish Runner Up in State Cup Final

Our 18A1's have finished runner up of the Football NSW State Cup today, after a stellar run through the competition. The team led by coach Luke Richardson did a tremendous job, winning through to the final in dramatic fashion, with an amazing penalty shootout victory to get them to be big dance.

But Castle Hill were a tough opponent and there were too good to beat today. The boys can be very proud of their efforts, everyone at the Miranda Magpies Football Club is so proud of this achievement. President Gary O'Riordan say today "A tough loss for the boys, but an amazing achievement in reaching the final".

The Team Accept Their Runners Up Medals - Proud Magpies!

Coach Luke posted on Facebook shortly after the game....

Today didn't go according to the plan in any way, shape or form. But I can't knock the spirit and determination of this team to get there to put themselves on show on the biggest stage in the State. We overcame the odds at every single stage, when so many wrote us off. While I may be the coach, it takes so many more to get these boys to this level. To all the supporters that came out to the ground today, thank you so much.

Carl Sledge and Sledge Strength for helping prep these boys each and every state cup week. Josh Benham for helping me through this season - we wouldn't be here without you Juice. Miranda Magpies FC for the support and backing of both me and the team. And our team physio, but more importantly my partner Ashleigh. You listen to me talk and obsess about this team 24/7, and both myself and the team wouldn't be playing at this level without you. To the 17 strong young men in this team - Chins Up, we will be back on this stage soon. Now we have a taste, I'm hungrier than ever to prove ourselves here, and Hungry Dogs Run Faster!
