It is with great sadness that we pass on our condolences to the family of former Sutherland Shark’s player Keith Schumann who passed away on Monday 22nd July after a long battle with illness. Keith was an integral part of the highly successful Sutherland teams in the late 70’s and early 80’s. He was an uncompromising and talented central defender who was selected by Rudi Guttendorf in an Australian XI to play a Polish side in 1979.
Keith was a Miranda Magpies junior who became a representative player at 16 and had ambition only to play for the Sutherland Sharks despite offers from the NSL and other state league clubs. He had a magnetic personality, lived life to the fullest and looked adversity in the eye. His memory will live on for all who knew him.
