The Miranda Magpies 18E's have won the Miranda Magpies a second premiership in 2019, with a dramatic, drama filled 2-1 victory at Barden Ridge.
The 18E's finished the season with the Minor Premiership with 14 wins and 3 losses and 42 points. Their rival St Patricks, were right behind them in second spot with 13 wins 1 draw and 3 losses for 40 points. The two sides played off week 1 of the finals with Miranda progressing following the extra time, 1 all draw. St Patrick's really pushed them that day and they knew they'd be seeing them again shortly.
St Patrick's fired into the Grand Final with a 7-1 thumping of Menai and there was always going to be plenty of fight in this one.
Miranda raced to a 2-0 lead before St Patrick's scored just before the break for a 2-1 halftime lead. St Patrick's received a penalty in the second half which was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Tom. The Magpies also had to endure a player in the sin bin for 10 minutes but held on for a famous victory. Celebrations after the game were captured on Magpies Instagram so make sure you check it out.
