SWA1's Make It Three In A Row

The Miranda Magpies SWA1's are one of the most decorated teams in Sutherland Shire history and they did it again, winning 3-0 against St Patricks at Seymour Shaw Stadium.

This Magpies team has won almost every title possible since Under 14's, including Champions of Champions and Two State Cups. They took on St Patricks, their opponent for the last 3 Grand Finals. Miranda won in 2017 and St Patricks had a 2-1 lead in extra time until a last second free kick from halfway was scored by Miranda, forcing a 2-2 draw and winning as the higher team in 2018.

Their dominance continued in 2019, finishing 1st with 14 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss, 13 points clear of St Patricks. Their first match up in Round 3 was a 0-0 draw, Miranda won 4-0 in Round 7, 1-0 in Round 12 and 1-0 in Round 17, before another 1-0 win in the Semi Final.

The final was also tight early, Miranda pushing hard and creating chances but the St Patricks keeper in particular, played a stellar match. Miranda got the go-ahead goal before the break to make it 1-0 at the break. Miranda pushed hard early, much to the delight of the big crowd supporting them and got a second goal early in the second half. Miranda shot and a St Patricks defender tried to block the on-target shot, but deflected it back into the goal.

The Magpies scored a 3rd midway through the second half with a wicked clash between striker, defender and keeper, but it squeezed home for an emphatic 3-0 victory to give Miranda a 3 peat.

Congratulations to Rod and Bob and this amazing team, who is sponsored by Adriano Coluccio. This team is one of the best women's teams in Australia.
